I found another great lunch spot thanks to my trusty On The Road app from the Food Network. This time I stopped at the Cool Cafe located in the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University. I went with the Cobb Salad featured on Bobby Flay’s FoodNation with a fresh squeezed pink lemonade. The Cobb features pasture raised light and dark meat chicken, bacon, Point Reyes blue cheese, purple egg (my favorite part of the salad), avocado and beets with a honey mustard vinaigrette. The chicken had great flavor and their was just enough dressing to complement the rest of the ingredients versus drowning them out. The outdoor patio provided a great place to enjoy a pleasant California spring morning and is a great place to work if you are looking for somewhere quiet to park in between meetings. There is one seat with a plug indoors if you need to recharge while you eat. The extra bonus came when I asked at the front desk for directions to the cafe. The woman that greeted me said I could walk around the outside or since I was just passing through, I could go there via the museum end enjoy the sights. That is where I came upon Rodin’s ,The Thinker. There are approximately 170 of his works on display inside and another 20 outside providing a multitude of reasons to visit for lunch and a stroll. It was definitely an unexpected lunch diversion and well worth the trip.
